The Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Centre (EBMTC®), established in 1993 by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the education and development of NUM members and the broader working class.

Named after Elijah Barayi, a significant figure in South Africa’s struggle for democratic rights, the centre offers a range of accredited training programs, leadership courses, and technical skills development initiatives aimed at empowering workers and fostering their professional growth.
